when you need healing, support

and a new direction

Everyone needs support sometimes coping with life.

We’re here to help.

At New Directions, you’ll be able to share your experiences without judgment.

Let’s face it, seeking out a therapist can be an intimidating venture: “Can I trust my therapist?”, “Will he/she understand me?”, “Can I freely share my struggles without being judged?”, and ultimately, “Will he/she be able to help me”?

Good news!

At New Directions Psychotherapies we make it our priority within the first contacts to help you feel relaxed and accepted and confident in our expertise to assist you while creating an environment of safety and trust where you can freely experience and process your  thoughts, feelings, or anything you deem important. As your therapists, we emphatically and actively listen to and answer any questions that may arise in the process of therapy. Our intentional approach to therapy creates a forum where you feel comfortable and free to share your ideas, needs and/or struggles in a safe place. This, in turn, alleviates barriers and fosters an authentic therapeutic connection, building confidence in the process.

I began seeing Rob for chronic anxiety and panic attacks. Rather than focusing on the symptom of anxiety, Rob helped me to unearth the pain of my past, the pain that kept fueling my anxiety. He then taught me how to think about myself, relationships, and life in new ways. As a result of receiving counseling from him, I grew in self-awareness and acquired highly effective coping skills for daily living. Rather than looking to the future full of fear and dread, I now look ahead with confidence and excitement. If you want to learn how to live this life well, Rob will teach you how. Rob possesses the therapeutic knowledge and expertise that many counselors lack. I highly recommend Rob as a counselor.

Our marriage was on the rocks just as it was beginning. In the midst of the immense pain of betrayal and confusion, we turned to Rob Pennello. Rob not only helped us interrupt the pattern of destructive communication in which my wife and I were locked, he patiently guided us through a multi-year process that enabled us to understand how we were exacerbating the long-standing wounds in each other’s lives. He helped us to turn the corner by addressing the lack of intimacy caused by the masks that we both were wearing. I am so thankful that our marriage was not only saved, but is now marked by a deep love and cherishing of each other as the broken yet recovering individuals that we both are.

After having seen multiple counselors prior to Rob, I was naturally skeptical. The personal care Rob combines with masterful skill and knowledge sets him far apart from the field. Rob is highly intelligent and capable, but even more-so is he gracious, considerate, thoughtful, and patient. I cannot understate the impact Rob Pennello has had on my life, and I’m confident he can do the same for you.

Therapy has helped me view others through a different lens and thus my interactions with others have become more positive...I highly recommend Rob for both individual and couples therapy as our family would not be where we are today without his expertise, guidance, and care.
