Today’s teenagers are inundated with constant stressors, changes, challenges and academic demands, along with a continual bombardment of social media and negative self image messaging. If left without intervention teenagers often and naturally move toward escape into drugs, alcohol, food, sex, pornography and rebellious or harmful behaviors. Our therapists create a forum by which your teen can have a comfortable place to share these feelings and struggles and help them and you, the parent, develop a more healthy and emotionally stable relationship while helping your teen create and use practical tools to heal and succeed.

Play Therapy:
Traditional therapy approaches are powerful instruments to help people heal. However, children do not often respond to these modalities of treatment as adults do, due to their level of brain development, emotional capacity and/or social skills, so play therapy is an excellent tool to help your child use different materials such as paints, crayons, markers, toys, drawings, therapeutic games and fun as a way to help them get in touch with, express and verbalize their inner world voice and struggles. Psychological studies show that children are more comfortable expressing their thoughts and feelings through play rather than verbal communication. During the therapeutic process, children learn to make meaning out of their play and understand their difficulties. Child’s play is a natural and effective form of expression that will help your child build healthier communication skills and social interactions.
Play Therapy is effective in:
Teaching Problem Solving Skills
Developing Better Communication and Social Skills
Building Self-Esteem
Learning Appropriate Anger Expression
Increasing Positive Outlook
Reducing Stress and Acting Out
Combating Oppositional Defiant Behaviors
Play therapy will address various issues in a child’s life including:
Life Transitions
Trauma
Difficulties at School
